Burkina Faso, located in Western Africa, is also known as Burkina and it is a landlocked country. It is a member of the World Trade Organization. Most of the workforce is involved in subsistence farming. Less than ten-percent of the country's land is appropriate for cultivation without the supply of water. Cotton is the main cash crop. Other crops are peanuts, corn, shea nuts, sesame, sorghum, millet and rice. Burkina has limited mineral resources including manganese ore, phosphates and gold. Main industries of the country are cotton lint, beverages, agricultural processing, gold, soap, cigarettes and textiles. |
